Conversations

Conversations is sometimes serious and sometimes humorous, but always informative. Host Dan Skinner shares interviews with writers about recent works of fiction and non-fiction, featuring internationally known best-selling authors as well as new voices in literature. Conversations also shares updates on the area art scene through discussions about upcoming performances and exhibits. 

Conversations: Robert J. Sawyer, "The Oppenheimer Alternative"

On this edition of Conversations, Robert J. Sawyer talks with host Dan Skinner about his latest novel, “The Oppenheimer Alternative.” Sawyer is one of only eight writers in history to win all three of science fiction’s highest awards: The Hugo, The Nebula, and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award. The novel is an alternate history about the men who invented the atomic bomb.

On this edition of Conversations, Ariana Neumann talks with host Dan Skinner about “When Time Stopped: A Memoir of My Father’s War and What Remains.” Neumann was born and grew up in Venezuela. She previously worked as a foreign correspondent for Venezuela’s “The Daily Journal,” and her writing has also appeared in “The European.” 


Conversations: Roshani Chokshi, "Aru Shah and the Tree of Wishes"

On this edition of Conversations, Roshani Chokshi talks with host Dan Skinner about her latest book in the Pandava series, “Aru Shah and the Tree of Wishes.” Chokshi is the author of the best-selling Young Adult books, “The Star-Touched Queen” and “The Gilded Wolves.” She also wrote two previous books in the Pandava series, “Aru Shah and the End of Time” and its sequel, “Aru Shah and the Song of Death.”

On this edition of Conversations, Saul J. Weiner, MD talks with host Dan Skinner about “On Becoming a Healer: The Journey From Patient Care to Caring About Your Patients.” Dr. Weiner is a professor of medicine, pediatrics and medical education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the co-founder of the Institute for Practice and Provider Performance Improvement.


Conversations: Ben Oliver, "The Loop"

On this edition of Conversations, Ben Oliver talks with host Dan Skinner about “The Loop,” his first full-length Young Adult novel. Oliver grew up in Scotland and attended the University of Stirling but spent most of his time trying to write a novel. "The Loop" is the first novel in a trilogy. The book has also been optioned for a television series.

On this edition of Conversations, Sarah Urist Green talks with host Dan Skinner about her book, “You are an Artist: Assignments to Spark Creation.” Urist Green is the creator, curator, and host of “The Art Assignment,” an educational video series produced in partnership with PBS Digital Studios that focuses on the creative process and the act of making. She is also the former curator of contemporary art at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
