We had so much fun last time that we're back again with our second "virtual" Cinema a Go-Go. Please join KPR when Retro Cocktail Hour host Darrell Brogdon holds a watch party from the Underground Martini Bunker Friday, May 22, at 7 p.m. This time featuring a real classic - The Blob (1958) starring Steve McQueen. This event is free; all we need is your name and email address in this web form, and you will get the exclusive log-in information for the event. Besides this great bad movie Darrell will have a giveaway* at the end of the film. A link to sign up for the giveaway item will be placed in the zoom comment section periodically throughout the movie.
A cult classic of gooey greatness, The Blob was made in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, by a maverick film distributor and a small studio that had previously made only religious movies. In his first starring role, Steve McQueen plays an oversexed teenager who can't get anybody to believe his story about a meteor that crashed to Earth and disgorged a ravenous gooey parasite. This low budget epic helped to launch the careers of Steve McQueen, Aneta Corsaut (Miss Crump on TV's Andy Griffith Show) and composer Burt Bacharach, who wrote the trippy theme song.
