Kansas City pianist Miles Swaminathan came to play Debussy, Chopin, Liszt and Norman Dello Joio
for us before his winter break ended at Olathe Northwest High School. An active sophomore at age 15
Miles is already well on his way to becoming a top concert pianist. Currently studying piano with
Professor of Piano at UMKC Conservatory of Music, Dr Robert Weirich, Miles is working on the

The 1912 death of Salvation Army founder William Booth inspired poet Vachel Lindsay to write
'General Booth Enters into Heaven.' Bass/baritone Cooper McGuire and pianist Alicia Willard
perform Charles Ives' 1926 musical setting of it, describing the Commander's imagined migration into Glory.
Also hear their very touching performances of 'Questo Amor' about unrequited love from Puccini's opera 'Edgar,'
and a song from Douglas Moore's 'The Ballad of Baby Doe' called 'Warm as the Autumn Light.' |

Three of KU's String Teachers came by to give us a sneak peak of their Thursday evening
October 17th 2019 String Faculty Recital in Swarthout Recital Hall in Murphy Hall, the music building
on the KU campus in Lawrence. String professors David Colwell, violin; Hannah Collins, cello;
and Boris Vayner, viola perform the Dohnanyi Serenade for String Trio in the KPR Live Performance Studio.
