"Kansas Health: A Prescription for Change” is an award-winning series about the health and well-being of Kansans. The series, which began in 2000 as a project called: "Kansas Kids: A Prescription for Change," can be heard on KPR and other public and commercial radio stations in Kansas and Missouri.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the politics that surround it have triggered an exodus of local public health workers in Kansas. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment says that in the nine months since the state’s first documented coronavirus infection, 27 county health officials have left their posts. Some retired but others resigned or were fired.
